John Musto was a small business owner himself for 24 years. At the time John owned his businesses there was very little support for small business owners. It was mainly trial and error or ask people who had been in business longer than you had. Consequently John has firsthand knowledge of what it is like being a small business owner and having to make tough decisions, many times without the necessary knowledge and experience to make good sound business decisions.
Prior to joining The Small Business Resource Center, John spent 5 years as a consultant with one of the most reputable financial management consulting groups in Northern California. He worked with companies all over Northern California, including the Bay Area, specializing in distressed companies. In doing so, John started his consulting career working with companies that had made many mistakes and, in many cases, were too far gone to save.
In 1997 John started focusing his work solely on small business owners when he joined The Small Business Resource Center. With the Center he worked with over 1,000 small businesses in all 105 areas of business. John’s experience in a variety of industries such as retail, service industries, construction, manufacturing, agriculture, food processing and professional has given him a small business background of experience that is unique to small business consulting. He knows all about small business owners having been one for 24 years and having consulted to over a 1,000 of them over these past 12 years.
